School Supplies

Lists of School Supplies

The following grade-level school supply lists are a general guide for what will be needed in each grade level here at HCS.

You will receive a more detailed, updated list with your child’s teacher letter. There will be more items listed on that updated list that will need to be purchased.

Keep in mind that many of these supplies will need to be checked and replenished throughout the year as most will be used all year.

Please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions.

1st Grade

You will need to provide your first grader with:

  • Over-the-ear headphones with the child’s name written on them
  • (Optional) Stylus, to use with their iPad.
  • Due to limited space, a regular sized, non-rolling backpack

Each student will be given a “School Starter Packet” which will provide the rest of the necessary supplies to begin the school year. Your child’s packet will include the following items:

  • Colored pencils and markers
  • White board markers
  • Crayons
  • Pink erasers
  • Liquid glue and glue stick
  • 40, #2, Ticonderoga Tri-write pencils, sharpened
  • Four folders (for Math Facts, classwork, homework, and journal)

Please notice no “pencil box.” That’s because supplies are distributed and used as community property. Everyone is responsible for the maintenance of our supplies. In this way, everyone has the needed “tools” to complete daily classwork without borrowing from a neighbor or waiting for it to come from home. I will request donations, as supplies get low.

Your student will use a Bible provided by the school. This Bible is part of a class set that will remain in the classroom. They will also use an app on the iPad that corresponds with their class Bible.
